            First Baptist Church of Gray Summit is looking for a proactive and efficient Church Custodian.

First Baptist Church of Gray Summit is looking for a proactive and efficient Church Custodian. The custodian will ensure that all areas of the church and the church offices are clean and ready for the staff and congregationto use.

To be a successful Church Custodian, you should be observant, respectful, motivated, and committed to providing church members, visitors, and staff with a clean, orderly place to worship and congregate. You should also be knowledgeable about proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques.

Church Custodian Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining clean church facilities by performing weekly duties and routine spot cleaning in all public areas of the building used by the congregation, visitors, and staff, including bathrooms, sanctuary, kitchens, meeting rooms, and church offices (a checklist is provided).
  • Work with members and church staff to ensure that all areas are cleaned and stocked with necessaryitems.
  • Observing proper chemical handling procedures when working with cleaning agents.
  • Performing basic facility-related tasks, such as restocking bathrooms, and notifying staff if majormaintenance needs to be performed. The custodian is not responsible for major repairs or specialized maintenance.
  • Taking inventory of cleaners and other supplies and submitting requests when items needreplenishment.
  • Interact with church staff in a respectful, positive manner.

Church Custodian Requirements:

  • Custodial experience or training preferred, however not required.
  • Understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who understand and support the role and function of the church.
  • Strong communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills. Ability to conduct themselves in a way consistent with the values and ministry of FBC Gray Summit. 
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including standing and walking for extended periods, reaching, light lifting, and other activities as required.
  • Flexibility to adjust their schedule occasionally to accommodate church events and facility needs, with reasonable advance notice. 
  • Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services tothe church.

Starting salary is $15 per hour, with a maximum of 12 hours per week, and the position is Part-Time. ChurchCustodian will report to the Chairperson of the Church Personnel Team.
