Qualifications

• Understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures
• Must pass a criminal background check
• Strong communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills; able to interact with church staff in a respectful, positive manner
• Motivation to work independently to provide thorough, efficient, and consistent custodial services to the church

Duties

Under the general supervision of the church pastor, the church custodian’s duties shall include, but not limited to the following:

• Maintain clean church facilities by performing weekly duties and routine spot cleaning in all public areas of the building, including bathrooms, sanctuary, kitchen, meeting rooms, and church offices.
• Observe proper chemical handling procedures when working with cleaning agents.
• Notify staff of any major repair or maintenance that needs to be performed on the building.
• Take inventory of cleaners and other supplies and resources, submitting requests when items need to be replenished.
